SBEM (Simplified Building Energy Model)

The Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) is the government-approved methodology for assessing the energy performance of non-domestic (commercial) buildings. Developed by the BRE, SBEM is significantly more complex than SAP, reflecting the greater energy demands found in commercial premises.

SBEM assessments are required to obtain Part L2a and L2b compliance reports and Energy Performance Certificates for new and refurbished commercial buildings.
